Western Union
Kamwokya Christian Caring Community (KCCC) and Western Union while collaborating with Diamond Trust Bank as partners supported the implementation of a project intended to improve and provide Youth Friendly Reproductive Health services at the KCCC Treasure Life Youth Centre.
The project is currently implemented as an integral component under the mainstream Youth Development program referred to as the Motivation and Personal Development skills Program (MPDSP).

The services offered entail equipping youth with knowledge and skills to prevent sexually Transmitted Infections (HIV/AIDS inclusive), early pregnancies, alcoholism, drug abuse and increasing access to treatment, care and support. Initial project activities included purchasing 2 containers for accommodating the clinic, youth offices and stores, HIV/AIDS/STI prevention through, sports and recreation for health and talent development, counselling and testing for HIV/STDs, treatment of STDs and other diseases, alcohol and drug abuse prevention sessions, rehabilitation and counselling of those already exposed to substance abuse, video shows, debates on topical issues, using music dance and drama to disseminate HIV/STD and substance abuse prevention messages and Conducting HIV/AIDS, STD, outreach seminars in schools and workplaces.

OVC Support at Nabitalo (Wakiso District)

KCCC in partnership with Western Union launched an OVC care and support program at St. Kizito Nabitalo Primary school, the project extends support to a total of 437 pupils 229 (boys) and 208 (girls).

Key Achievements since the Launch of the program

Renovation
  • A block of eight (8) classrooms has been renovated
  • Four (4) classes whose floors were dilapidated were replaced, and then the inside walls were screed filled and painted.
  • The veranda of the whole block was newly constructed.
  • The roof was checked repaired worn-out sheets replaced and repainted
  • Kitchen has been constructed where food is prepared and served from.
