 An overall 6,692 clients received different types of counseling such as VCT, adherence, and supportive counseling. This was a 90.8% achievement compared to the annual target of 7,368 people counseled. During 2010, a total of 1,637 clients were recipients of HIV counseling and testing. 55.1% of 1,637 tested were HIV positive, and 44.8% were HIV negative. This period we had more people testing HIV positive than Negative. The number of people receiving HIV counseling and testing reduced from 2,147 people in 2009 to 1,637 people in 2010, (23.7%) decrease. In the same way the number of people testing HIV positive decreased from 58% (1,246) in 2009 to 55.1% (902) in 2010. Of the 902 people testing HIV positive in 2010, 58.8% (531) were females and 38.1% (344) were males both aged 15 years and above. 2.9% (27) were children aged 0-14 years of age. |
