The KCCC Post Test Club
Post Test ClubThe KCCC Post Test Club is a social forum and a peer-to-peer network where people can be tested for HIV, and, regardless of their test results. The club's goal is contribute to the national effort to prevent further spread of HIV/AIDS , promote openness about HIV/AIDS and enhance the psycho-social adjustments of those infected and affected.

Objectives

  • To offer on-going psycho-social support to the members and increase public awareness of HIV/AIDS
  • To demonstrate by example that people living with HIV/AIDS can still lead a healthy and productive life by using music, dance and drama
  • To help reduce stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS
Members also can take advantage of a whole suite of organization supported services, like access to treatment and psychosocial support, savings and loans programs and vocational training. They meet on a monthly basis with an active membership of 250 people. The Post Test-Club is a Patient run support group, facilitated by our trained professional counselors, aiming at providing an environment of acceptance where clients tackling issues and challenges they face in their daily lives like overcoming stigma, acceptance, disclosure, prevention, stress management, ARV adherence, social support and income generating activities. The Post Test Club is in the process of expanding its capabilities to have more specialized support meetings targeting adolescents, discordant couples and care givers.

The club provides valuable services for the community. Will-writing and Memory books are part of their activities. These help to inform children about their parent's health condition, enables parents and children to better plan the children's future and also provide an opportunity for capturing and passing on the family history and important childhood memories.
