Advocacy Rights
ADVOCACY RIGHTS AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT
The Advocacy Programme acts as a support function to other KCCC actvities, with the express intention of teaching individual community members how to assert their legal rights while training community leaders how to effectively lobby for the provision of guaranteed security, health and social services. We address domestic violence and effects on women and children.
The KCCC Advocacy Approach
We seek to overcome injustice through the following:
- Capacity building for community leaders through training workshops where they acquire advocacy and lobbying skills
- Human rights awareness, monitoring and remedies for children (The Orphans and Vulnerbale Children, OVC), Mentally Ill Persons (MIPs), People Living With HIV and Aids (PLHAs) and women for enhancements of property rights.
- Dialogue through Community involvement, collaboration and media mobilisation, networking and partnerships
The principal of the KCCC Advocacy - It line with Christian values and beliefs
- Promote love, care, share and serve (The KCCC first principal)
- Integrity and honesty
- Non discrimination
- Evidence based advocacy and action

Its our vision that advocay and lobbying will create a "critical mass" of people able to assert thier rights and to hold their community leaders and government accountable and reponsive to their needs and concerns.
For example, reduction of stigma associeted with HIV/AIDS and Mental illness will increase public aknowledgement, openness and acceptance . This will in turn make it easier for concerned individuals to seek approtriate treatment, including Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT).
Violence of all kinds is pervasive in or society. To avert one's eyes only perpetuates the cycle of suffering.
